Kolaborasi Projects | Sri Lankan Floating Space Theatre Project

Over a period of an intensive R&D residency in Colombo in combination with a series of workshops, lecture demonstrations and performances across Sri Lanka and the United States, this project aims to explore themes of theatre practice and theatre making in relation to sexual rights, social and personal identity and artistic freedom within the contemporary Sri Lankan society. The intention of this project is to raise awareness of the different cultural and political contexts/climates in which artists (can) create and share their work today.

This project builds on previous collaborations between Ruhanie Perera, Jake Oorloff and Sally Dean as individual artists, theatre makers as well as directors of companies with a shared vision. Floating Space creates and facilitates collaborative arts projects with local and international artists, theatre practitioners and companies. The company works to advocate the use of theatre outside its more traditional purpose, especially with regard to participatory theatre techniques and issue-based work.
